ABOUT THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
The Technical Committee’s main objective is to help you develop valuable technical skills and showcase them through outlets like Engineering Open House and Design Teams.
Our Initiatives
Engineering Open House, also known as EOH, is an annual science fair in which organizations throughout the Grainger College of Engineering host exhibits of STEM- related projects to over 20,000 visitors. A big reason for BMES’ continued success is our EOH committee, which is dedicated to advising our team leads throughout the entire duration of their projects.
Projects that have potential to be applied in the real world or for clinical use can step up and become long-term Design Teams, which will be supported by BMES through advising, networking, and, in special cases, financial means. If you ever have an idea for a biomedical product, the Tech Committee can get you connected to people who can boost you towards making that idea a reality. Examples of past and current Design Teams include PhantomCor, which became a startup company, Health Mirror, and Protect Your Noggin.
To aid you in your pursuit of innovating and creating the next big thing, we have a Workshop Committee whose objective is to give you hands-on experience with various tools and skills like CAD, circuitry, and programming -- all of which would be great to have on your resume!
